The History of Cuba Book Review
The History of Cuba by Clifford Staten

A short, yet interesting history of Cuba. It is amazing to look at Cuba’s history in a less biased way where it is apparent the sway that American-lead politics and hegemony have had on Cuba. It is impossible to know the exact impact that American influence has had, but there are many negative effects that have been felt in Cuba because of political overreach. Hopefully the past mistakes will be fixed and things will not be repeated in the future.

Quotes:

“Other initiatives included granting women the right to vote, establishing twelve-week maternity leave to working mothers, mandating employer-provided child care for infants and prohibiting the practice of firing women from their jobs simply because they were married. These ‘leftist’ actions were not supported by the United States of American businesses in Cuba.”
