Palm-of-the-Hand Stories by Yasunari Kawabata.

1/5 rating.

Book #150 of 2019. Read December 31, 2019.

What an absolutely horrendous way to end a successful year of finishing 150 books. If anyone ever offers you this book, RUN THE OTHER WAY!!! This book is a translation of Japanese short stories and I can only imagine that everything was lost when it switched to English, because these stories had no morals, no endings, and no reason. It was almost like the author just combined random words to write “stories” because the majority of them made no sense AT ALL!! This book took hours of my life that I will never get back. Please, I implore you to not waste your life energy trying to read this like I did.

Here’s to a year of wonderful stories (and this piece of garbage!). 2020 won’t have nearly as many books read, but will still have plenty. Happy 2019!!
