Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

3/5 rating.

Book #80 read in 2019. Read May 30, 2019.

This is Ayaan’s story of her early life. It tells about her upbringing in various African countries as a Muslim refugee. She talks about her eventual disenchantment with Islam for many reasons but mostly focusing around the subjugation of women. She lives as an apostate in the Netherlands and eventually makes it into politics where she tries to help explain the detrimental effects that can occur from the Islamic faith if taken to an extreme without any questioning of the Quran. As an outspoken opponent of Islam she receives so many death threats that she is forced to flee. She is a hero in the fight to bring about change in a religion stuck in the sixth and seventh centuries as she has sparked debate on how to make a change. The book was interesting, but was somewhat slow reading.
