When you love traveling, you look for any excuse to go on a trip. In my case, this led me to drive 2.5 hours – one way – to get a free gallon of sweet tea: a great day trip! While my mom was staying in Texas, she ate at Raising Cane’s a few times. Her last visit, she won a free gallon of sweet tea. Knowing how much I love Cane’s, she sent me the coupon, just in case I was ever close enough to visit one. Unfortunately, the closest location was in Mobile, Alabama. I had been contemplating heading down there for a few weeks. On the Saturday before the coupon expired, I decided I was going for it!

I left for Mobile at about 10 in the morning. After a gorgeous drive, I arrived at Cane’s. I got my free tea and some amazingly delicious chicken fingers – as always! Not wanting to head straight back home, I decided I might as well drive around Mobile for a bit while I was there. I decided to drive along the coast, and eventually made my way to Dauphin Island. Once there, I went down to the beach and enjoyed some time in the sand. Though the weather was not great – it was windy and cloudy – I was able to enjoy walking along the beach for an hour or so. Worrying that I might hit some heavy rain, I headed back home.

The wonderful thing about travel is that you don’t need to travel half-way across the world to have a good time. Sometimes, all it takes is some great food a few hours away. The beach certainly helps, but learn to appreciate the little things in life, and when life gives you a coupon…go for that drive and get some sweet tea!
