The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.
4/5 rating. 590 pages.
Book #35 of 2022. Read August 27, 2022.

This book was a maze of twists and turns through a bunch of different storylines, and I absolutely loved the ride!
Mikael Blomkvist (the book takes place in Sweden, so I’m sure I completely butchered all of the names) is a journalist and editor for a magazine where he got conned into releasing a false story. He is charged for libel and is forced to go on leave from the magazine. During the next year, he is convinced to take a job for Henrik Vanger, a business magnate, who wants him to solve a mystery that has haunted him for decades. What happened to Harriet Vanger?
Along the way, we meet the incredibly adept hacker, Lisbeth Salander. A girl covered with tattoos (obviously including a dragon). She helps Blomkvist work through the mystery and uncover some unbelievable happenings in the family.
I didn’t see so many of the events in this book coming! Not being able to guess what would happen next was such an enjoyable experience in a mystery.
I would completely recommend this book, it’s nearly 600 pages and took me a while, but definitely worth the time!
Quotes:
“Everyone has to have something to believe in.”
“The Stock Exchange is something very different. There is no economy and no production of goods and services. There are only fantasies in which people from one hour to the next decide that this or that company is worth so many billions, more or less. It doesn’t have a thing to do with reality or with the Swedish economy.”
“What she had realised was that love was that moment when your heart was about to burst.”
