The Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss.
3/5 rating. 395 pages.
Book #32 of 2022. Read July 28, 2022.

This is a fun, adventure-filled book about a family shipwrecked on a deserted, but vibrant island.
This book is a classic and it’s easy to see why. I would say it’s aimed at younger readers, but it does an amazing job of explaining a lot of the different inventions and stories of day-to-day life for this family of six.
The family manage to get to shore after the ship they are on runs aground on some rocks during a storm. They not only survive, but thrive in the truest sense of the word. They manage to have a menagerie of animals, multiple farms, multiple residences, and to become prodigious at a ridiculous number of very useful pursuits. This family embodies the idea of the Renaissance man (and woman).
Let’s just hope this helps me with some ideas of how to construct and live an amazing life with an awesome little farm, while still living out my dreams.
If you’re looking for a fun and easy read, this is definitely it. Especially for classics, this book just flies by!
