Who Moved My Cheese?: An A-Mazing Way to Deal with Change In Your Work and In Your Life by Spencer Johnson.
4/5 rating. 94 pages.
Book #46 of 2021. Read May 24, 2021.

This is a cute, short parable about the importance of adjusting to change.
I thought the actual parable was fun and though obviously over-the-top on its generalizations of different people and its use of go-get-’em phrases, it was still a nice little reminder that change is constant and that fear is so often unfounded. Unless you also want the after-school-special version of discussing it, you probably can skip the pre- and post-portions of the story.
As Haw (one of the characters) writes on the wall: “Old beliefs do not lead you to new cheese.”
Sometimes it’s easy to get stuck in ways, but beware of getting complacent because you don’t want to be lost at a point wondering what happened to my cheese.
If you’re feeling a little stuck, you could probably take a half hour and have time to read this useful story, digest it, and see if you can overcome your fear and move towards the new cheese.
Quotes:
“Life is no straight and easy corridor along
which we travel free and unhampered,
but a maze of passages,
through which we must seek our way,
lost and confused, now and again
checked in a blind alley.
But always, if we have faith,
a door will open for us,
not perhaps one that we ourselves
would ever have thought of,
but one that will ultimately
prove good for us.” – A.J. Cronin
“What would you do if you weren’t afraid?”
“He knew when you change what you believe, you change what you do.”
