The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch and Jeffrey Zaslow.
3/5 rating. 206 pages.
Book #43 of 2021. Read May 9, 2021.

Randy was a professor at Carnegie Mellon who received a diagnosis of stage 4 cancer. After realizing he only had months to live, he organized a last lecture (and this book) to sum up his life and pass on some of his knowledge to his young kids.
Randy talks all about his life. The ways that he was able to fulfill some of his dreams, the way he met his wife, and the love he has for his kids. He also has some great advice:
- “Brick walls are there for a reason. They give us a chance to show how badly we want something.”
- “Time is all you have. And you may find one day that you have less than you think.”
- “Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted.”
- “If you want something bad enough, never give up…”
- “Sometimes, all you have to do is ask.”
This is a pretty good, and nicely short book to speed through with some good tidbits of advice.
Additional Quotes:
“I also think my dad would be reminding me that kids – more than anything else – need to know their parents love them.”
“There is more than one way to measure profits and losses.”
